Our first Women's A Grade team -with a win in round 1 v

The Tea Tree Gully
District Cricket Club will be entering a
A Grade
team in the SACA Women’s competition in
the coming season. Matches are played on turf wickets and begin on 3rd
October, 2010.
The club will also
be entering teams in either the C Grade
- now to be known as the Women's Powerade 20/20 Cup
The Women's Powerade T20 Cup
be for
for young girls (under 17) with 3 players allowed over 17,with
9-10 players per team. Played on turf wickets and
no previous experience is required. If the girls do not have their own
equipment the club can supply at no cost.

A Grade -
50 over "limited over" matches
(11-12 a side - 10 Rounds per season) and Twenty20 Competition (9 a
side - 10 Rounds per season) Played on Saturday or Sunday.

- Twenty20 Competition (9-10 a side-15
Rounds per season ) Restricted by a minimum of
six players under the age of 17. 1st match 24th October

Our girls have preformed remarkably well since the
introduction of the Scorpion Shield team four seasons ago with the B
Grade team, in their first year, being runners-up in both the 1-day and
twenty/20 competitions and winning both these competitions in 2008/09 season.
Last season, the first
year in Women's A grade saw the girls finish in the final four.
Tamara Clapton and
Stephanie Morrison also representing SA in the State Scorpions team.
Tamara was the youngest player in Australia to play in the
Women's National Cricket League.
Tamara Clapton, Victoria Bach
and Brittany Perry represented SA in the Under 17 National carnival last year.
Victoria Bach
was rewarded with "ALL AUSTRALIAN" selection for her efforts in the
recent Australian Under 17 Female Championships held in Brisbane.
Amanda Wellington, Samantha Betts and represented SA in the U15
national carnivals. Amanda Wellington
was rewarded with "ALL AUSTRALIAN" selection for her efforts in the
recent Australian Under 15 Female Championships held in Melbourne.

Amy Norris,
Amanda-Jade Wellington & Sarah Hawthorne (Reserve) represented South Australia
in the U13 National Championships.
This coming season Stephanie Morrison, a State
Scorpion player will be the Women's Squad Coach with assistance from
specialist coaches and senior men's A Grade players.

Karen took over the captaincy of the
Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars
in February 2006, having served as vice-captain of the side since 1997.
The left-hander is Australia’s leading Test run
scorer (her 63 in the Adelaide Oval Test against India lifted her to
this milestone), and the third highest run-scorer in women’s one-day
cricket history. Karen has won the Women’s International Cricketer of
the Year award, presented at the Allan Border Medal count, a record four
times.
She
started playing cricket in the backyard with her brother and next door
neighbours.
She plays grade cricket for Port Adelaide and has represented the men’s
club team.
